transportation

Traveling to Centro Cultural de Belém (CCB)

If you are staying in Lisbon’s city centre, our recommendation is to go to Cais do Sodré using the metro, and from there take the tram to CCB. The venue is on the second floor in the east façade facing the garden and Jerónimos monastery. The conference rooms will be signposted inside CCB. More detailed room/access information will be shared closer to the event.

Public transport in Lisbon consists of buses (Carris), trams (Carris), subway (Metro), and trains (CP). We recommend you use Google Maps to consult the schedule and learn the best route from your location to the venue. To use public transports, either:

  • Rechargeable "Navegante" card: Costs 0,50€. You can buy it in the airport at the metro entrance or at any metro station. Choose “Zapping” and charge it with an amount in Euros (each metro, tram, or bus trip subtracts 1,72€ from your Navegante card).
  • Contactless bank cards: Pay directly with contactless cards or smartphone wallets on Carris and Metro (slightly more expensive than the Navegante card, 1,92€ per trip).

Also available are ride-hailing services like Uber and Bolt, local taxis, as well as scooter and bike rentals from GIRA, Lime, Bird, etc.

From Cais do Sodré

Cais do Sodré is a major transit hub along the river and the most convenient launching point to Belém.

  • Tram: Take Carris Tram 15E from Cais do Sodré directly to the Centro Cultural de Belém stop. This tram drops you off right in front of the venue.
  • Train: Take the Comboios de Portugal (CP) train (Linha de Cascais) from Cais do Sodré to Belém station. From the station, it is about a 10-minute flat walk to CCB.
  • Bus: Carris bus 728 from Cais do Sodré to Belém is also a fast and frequent option.

From Humberto Delgado Airport (LIS)

Unlike many European airports, Lisbon's airport is located close to the city center.

  • Taxi / Uber / Bolt: It takes about 20–30 minutes by car to reach CCB, depending on traffic. Taxis are available outside arrivals, while ride-hailing apps depart from designated zones. Fares are usually between 16€–20€ to Belém.
  • Subway & Train/Tram: Take the Subway Red Line from Airport to Alameda station, and switch to the Green Line towards Cais do Sodré. From Cais do Sodré, choose any tram, train, or bus option above.

From Saldanha

Saldanha is in the central business district and a very popular hotel area.

  • Subway & Train/Tram: Take the Subway Red Line from Saldanha to Alameda, switch to the Green Line towards Cais do Sodré, then take Tram 15E to Centro Cultural de Belém or the CP train to Belém.
  • Direct Bus: Carris bus 727 departs from the Saldanha area directly towards Belém (exit at Mosteiro dos Jerónimos or CCB), offering a scenic journey above ground.

Micro-mobility (Bicycles and Scooters)

The riverside path from central Lisbon to Belém is flat and very pleasant for cycling or riding a scooter.

🚲 Bicycles (GIRA)

There are multiple stations for GIRA (the Lisbon public bike rental system) near Cais do Sodré and the CCB venue. You can download the GIRA app for Android and iOS.

The GIRA Day Pass costs 2€, and if you plan on staying in Lisbon for a couple extra days, you can also buy the GIRA Monthly Pass (15€). Both include unlimited free trips up to 45 minutes per trip.

🛴 Scooters

Multiple operators (such as Lime, Bird, and Bolt) are available throughout the city. The dedicated riverfront cycle path is an excellent, scenic way to ride straight to Belém.
