Seeking Student Volunteers to help with TEI-2011

We need student volunteers to help with TEI-2011. Volunteers will do any and all tasks, including staffing the registration desk, stuffing bags, helping speakers with audio-video, moving furniture, and helping with any and all miscellaneous jobs that the conference requires. It’s a lot of work, but it’s also a lot of fun.

What does Student Volunteer mean?

The TEI conference can’t happen without a reliable and dedicated pool of student volunteers. Student volunteers are the backbone of the academic conferences. Without you registration would be a nightmare, sessions would not run smoothly, the conference organizers would be insanely overworked, and attendees would come away from the conference with a negative impression.

What do we offer?

A cool TEI-2011 SV T-shirt, free conference registration and materials, some meals, and most importantly a chance to meet and network with established members in the community as well as your student peers. Student volunteers pay for their own lodging, travel to and from the conference, and any meals that are not provided as part of the conference.

Do I qualify?

Volunteers must be undergraduate, Master, or Ph.D. students at the time of the conference. No previous experience is required. We need enthusiastic, dependable and reliable people. Volunteers will commit to work 20 hours at the conference between 22-26 January 2011.
You must present your valid student identification card or letter from your university or school when registering at the conference.

I’ve just applied, what now?

We will choose Student Volunteers from applications received by October 31. By mid November we will notify those volunteers initially selected so they can begin making arrangements. We will keep a waiting list of applications received by the preliminary registration deadline, but not initially selected. Applications received after the deadline will be placed at the end of the waiting list.
